i was just wondering what visa should an IMG apply for the step 2CS... should it be immediately J1 or first tourist visa and after the exam and interview in the US, come home then apply now for the J1 visa. thank you and hope to hear from you guys.

usually if you dont have any petitions or any siblings or parent in the US, you will probably need tourist visa to take the CS. The most important thing here is planning because you have to make sure before you leave if you want to stay until the match day comes (which I prefer so that you can scramblein case) and after you match visit the hospital where you match before coming home and apply your visa in the US embassy at your home country. I dont want to recommend that you convert your visa here in the US from tourist to J1 visa because the processing sucks and I am a victim of it. I dont recomment and I even discourage. You will lose a lot of money! |
